24 valve engine was introduced in 1998 production year, to be known in the biz as 1998.5.

As far as Club Cab goes, I think the proper term as Quad Cab, as that was also introduced in 1998, both the 12 valve and 24 valve engines.

Isn't Club Cab the old 4 full size door'd Dodges back in the 70's?
Or is it the extra cab without the extra doors?

Some people mistakenly use the terms club cab, extended cab, extra cab, quad cab, and such interchangably. I wouldn't get too hung up on the term used. www.KBB.com will show you what was available in a given year if you choose. (among other sites I'm sure)

ok...you guys are making this more complicated then it is...

club cab= extended cab= no opening doors

Quad cab= opening extended cab doors

apparently it was an option even for the 98.5 trucks but very FEW people wanted the club cab option instead of the Quad cab option...just found this out and thought that i would clarify things up...guess you learn something everyday

I just happen to have one. I ordered it about 1-30-98. It was assembled about 2-19-98, and I took delivery on 3-20-98.

Back then, the Quad Cabs were all the rage, so the Club (Extended) Cab orders were quickly filled.

The "club cab" was a gereic Dodge term for the extended cab...

98's and down were club cabs and 98 and newer were the quad cabs....both were available in the 98 model year....as midwestdually already pointed out.

I think I remember reading some where that you could get the Club Cab or the Quad Cab up until 2000 then they only offered the Quad Cab no more Club Cab.

I will agree and dissagree with that I had a club cab and I did know what I was missing and now that I have a quad cab I could not imagine not ever having one.
