Evaporator Pics
Hay everyone, just wanted to show you all the fun i had yesterday. I replaced the evaporator, heater core, and accumlator, Took 8 hrs from start to finish. I got the parts at napa for $300, If you are thinking about doing this, get the special tool to seperate the ac lines,(cost $10 at car quest). In the pictures you can see the yellow dye and all the dirt. This is the reason these evaps fail. (Thanks dodge) I also wanted to thank everyone for the help with this project. if anyone has any questions pm me.

Now remove the plastic grill under the windshield and install some A/C filter material to keep all that crap from getting in there, or you will be doing this job again.
Geno's sells a kit, but you can do it yourself for way less.

Is there a special material that will not mold or mildew when getting wet that you can suggest? That sounds like a really good idea and I would like to try it. I have a buddy with a newer Chevy and really like the cabin filter idea GM started installing in thier vehicles. When replacing his, they really do catch a lot of the crud that is probably entering my cab.

Great post 99turborock,
I'm assuming this came out of your '99. Any dash/heater box tricks you want to pass along?
I'll be at mine soon as well.

hay tazman, this did come out of my 99. A tip that may help you is look in old treads "dash removal" I am having trouble finding the one i used, also make sure you get the special tool that allows you to disconnect the ac lines that are near the fire wall. I also I had my system recharged by a shop, for $118. Next time i will buy a vacume pump and do it myself, hope this helps, let me know if you have any problems.
