Unhappy Electrical short ?

Fog lights not working, but F/L indicator light works. Cruise control non op, however once again dash light is indicating on , When started, voltage gauge reading just above 8v then after 10-15 secs goes up to 14v. Went out to go to work and truck wont even turn over. Where to begin anyone with a thought ? 99 2500 5.9 Diesel 300,000 mi. I do love my truck.

The voltage drop is your grid heaters cycling due to the cold weather. Read the permanent posts at the top of the forum headers.

Sounds like you have a bad headlight switch or possibly a blown fuse on the fogs.

As for the CC being non-op search "clockspring" in this forum and I do beleive you will be heading in the right direction.

Welcome to DTR!
