Electrical, Ignition, Problem
Halp!!! Have a 2001 Cummins 4X4 Quad-cab. . .shut the vehicle off last night at work. . .went to start. . .no start!!. . .here is the problem. Dash lights, heater, interior lights, electric windows all work. . .what doesen't work are the Gauges, radio, digital odometer, and obviously the vehicle will not turn over. Tripping the Solenoid turns it over. . .friend says it may be in the ignition which leads me to the short story of the poor Dodge was burgled a year ago, and the little thief smashed my ignition to bits. It was replaced, and worked fine till yesterday. I have the "tilt" stering, and do realize the wearing/movement of all wires. . .anyone out there have a similar problem???
thanx

No Start
I had the same problem with my vehicle.
Found the 50 amp ignition fuse and also the 25 amp solenoid fuse in the Power Distribution Centre, located under the hood blown. I could start the vehicle by connecting the small black wire (there is a connector close to the battery) leading to the solenoid directly to the positive side of the battery.
I finally took the starting motor / solenoid off and replaced the contacts in the solenoid with heavy duty contacts which solved the 25 amp fuse blowing and starting problems.
I hope this information will be of assistance.
