Door panel "christmas trees"
Does anyone remember offhand which auto parts outfit(s) sell the correct christmas trees for 2nd Gen door panels? My passenger side panel is rattling like crazy, I suspect because it's loose either from damaged or missing fasteners. I'd rather not drive all over town looking for the silly things, nor do I want to pay $2/each at the dealer. Thanks.

I've always had great luck just re-using the factory ones. Once you pull the doors off, remove any retainers left in the door, along with the ones left in the door panel. Then, using an awl (like an ice pick), straighten out the fins on each one. Takes a few minutes to do, but it restores them to almost new condition. I've used this method after removing door panels several times (probably about 3-4 removals) and never had a problem once the panels were back on.

parts-express.com. Type in "door tool" for a tool and then type in "door clip" for the clips.
The one that worked for me was 265-911.
265-906 might work too ? I'm not sure. I think the 911 is just a little longer so easier.
When I removed my door panels without the tool I broke the panels. Basically broke the piece of the plastic panel that holds the clip on. I am not exactly the most gentle/patient person I guess.

Backside of a claw hammer works as the tool too. But I always just use it to pry up around the edges some, then I pry the rest off by hand (prying somewhat close to the clips). Never broken one.

I pulled 'em out with a pry bar, but I lost a few, plus after pulling the panel a few times they start to lose their holding power. So I'm short on numbers and they're beat up, so the stupid thing creaks like crazy. SWMBO says she can't hear it, but it's driving me nuts!
I'll probably try to yank the bottom corner up and pull one out to match it up and then go to the local NAPA (it's closer and bigger) and see if they have one that matches. If not, I'll head to O'Reilly and check what they've got.
