Dome/Map Lights Stay On

Dome/Map Lights Stay On
Hello,
New to board and new to diesels. This board along with other resources was extremely helpful in making my decision to go with a 2001 Ram 2500 Cummins HO 6 Speed 4x4 Extended Cab Long Bed. I have been very happy thus far. One nagging issue is the Dome/Map light stays on if the dimmer switch is in any position other than all the way off. My manual says the dome and map light is supposed to stay on for 30 seconds after the last door has been shut. This is not the case. I have changed out the head light switch with no effect. Where should I go from here. I'm thinking there is something crossed up with respect to my keyless entry, because the cargo light is operated off the same switch, and works normally.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:Dome/Map Lights Stay On
Not sure on your model but is there perhaps a seperate switch to select which mode that dome light operates in? Like on the dome light itself?
Second thought, I would take a look at the door switch. Again, not knowing your model configuration, it may be possible that the switch is a SPDT. Pull the switch and see if it has two, three or four wires going to it. It any more than two then check the switch with a VOM for proper operation.
