It hangs down on the drivers side below the bumper, I looked on the passengers side and could not find a matching one, I was thinking it was the pigtail for fog lights which my truck is not equiped with. My truck is a 97 2500 slt.

Thanks

Well, I missed the picture, but if it's just a 2 wire connection and there isn't one to match it on the passenger side, it could be the wires for the temperature probe that goes with the overhead console. That's sounds like where mine was in the 95 and 96...

I don't thnk it's the temperature sensor. That's up behind the grill near the hood release. Of course that's where it is on my '02. The fog light connector is behind the bumper, sort of in the middle and is mounted on the rear side of the cross member. It's oriented sideways. I have fogs,so mine has a mating connector in it. I have an open connector on mine too. I points downward. I wonder if it's for use with the snowplow option?

It's the fog light connector.
Temp probe connector on a '97 is behind the driver's side headlight.
