Disassembling the 3rd brake light assembly?
I'm wondering if anyone knows how or if you can take apart the third brake light assembly. Mine somehow got a spider nest in it and is full of crap, so I'd like to take the lens off so I can clean it out real good. I removed the assembly, but unfortunately I can't tell if it comes apart any further. The seal seems to kind of be holding it all together. If a new one weren't $80, I'd just get a new one. Can anybody help? Thanks a ton.

the 3rd brake light is all one unit, its the white lense with the red lense behind it and the bracket that holds the wiring. Theres a foam "gasket" around it, it usually gets stuck you just have to pry it off gently.

Yeah man, I got the whole assembly out of the truck, but the problem was that the bugs and stuff were somehow down in the lens to the point where I couldn't get them out. So I really need to be able to take the whole assembly apart. Which it doesn't look like is possible. So I guess I'll be on the lookout for one that I can buy, or I'll get the $80 one from Dodge.

Soak it in a bucket of warm soapy water. Swish it around then spray water in the light holes to rinse it out. A small bottle brush might also be helpful to clean the insides.
