Did I hurt it?

So i bought some so called biodiesel from someone, i had about 25 gallons of diesel and i added 5 gallons of bio, i got about 5 miles away from home and as i was pulling in to a gas station it dyed. I went ahead and filled it up the rest of the way and tryed to restart it, i finally got it started and it wouldnt idle and it was popping real loud and pouring white smoke out. So i got it back home and pulled the tank out and draind it, filled it back up and bled the fuel lines and restarted it. It sputtered for a while and then cleared up. I have drove it a couple times since then and it seems to be running fine. SO my question is could i have harmed the IP or the moter?

Since you caught it quickly, you are probably okay. I suspect that you either got a load of water or a batch where they got the amount of catalyst wrong and the reaction never happened. I would change the fuel filter once or twice more in the near future and see whether there is any water or anything else in it.

The problem with water is that it rusts the internals on the pump but since you dealt with it quickly, I doubt that it is a problem. If you got unreacted vegetable oil, there may be a tiny bit of residue in the pump from the stuff that got by the filter but it shouldn't be enough to matter(people run it through all the time when it is heated).

The reason that the truck continued to run poorly for a few minutes was probably due to the fact that the IP holds a significant volume of fuel.
