Debadging question

Hi guys,

I'd like to debadge my truck to make way for some 3rd gen badges. I guess when the PO repainted the truck, he opted to put on "DODGE" sport model stickers instead of the normal badges. I've tried to pick away at the drivers side door sticker, but its very stubborn and isn't peeling up.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

A heat gun might help. If you don't have one, a hair dryer works pretty well.

ditto on heat gun, sometimes a plastic razor blade comes in handy and if you have problems with the glue on paint their is an eraser for paint that will chuck up in a drill. seen one at paint shop one time, neat, but i'm to cheap to buy the right tool for project.

WD-40 will usually help with the glue, but to get the decal itself off probably the careful application of heat, at least that's what I used on an old Jeep Cherokee Chief to remove the decals on it Heat gun with a razor blade and then scrub with a WD-40 soaked soft rag

Get yourself to your nearest parts house and pick up an "erasing" disc, much like a round rubber eraser with a shaft in the middle. Attach to your favorite drill and have at it (the decals, that is). The rubber eraser will lift off any decals and the glue and will not harm your existing paint job. For the badges, just heat them up with a hair dryer or whatever you have and then slide a piece of fishing line behind the badge. The line will cut through the glue really well and let you pull the badge off and then all ya gotta do is clean up the residue.

Cheers!

Mike

Good tip for the hair dryer! Worked really well. A heat gun probably would have worked even better

How about Methyl Hydrate for removing the glue? I have a bit of that left over. We use it all the time to clean laminate flooring...would it have an adverse effect on my paint??
