Daytime running lights on US trucks

Has anyone got advice on installing daytime running lights on a truck that does not currently have them? I am looking into importing a US truck into Canada and before I can register it, it must have DRLs working.

I think I remember hearing or seeing that there is a module or something that you plug into the fuse box but in a jam, you could always just hook them up to a relay that goes on when the truck ignition is on.

As near as I can tell at the moment, the DRL module will not plug into a US truck wiring harness.....I saw a mechanic going through this problem with DC while trying to safety a US truck in Ontario.....the last I heard of this was that the module will not plug into the US harness. We were both surprised that this couldn't be done.....I would have thought the connector would be sitting there with a jumper receptacle plugged into it.....but that is not the case! In the end, he wired the factory fog lights to come on with the ignition and this was deemed acceptable as DRL's for the Ontario safety.

what year truck? just leave the headlight switch on if it is 03 and up, because the headlights will go out automatically.

That will only fly if the lights come on everytime the ignition is turned on.......on a 2nd gen US truck this not the case

It might be simpler to use a relay connected to the "on" side of the ignition. But don't forget to check with the Registrar of Imported Vehicles PRIOR to hitting the border, and that you MUST contact US Customs 72 hours prior before you can take it out of the country! Learned that one the hard way!
