Dash remodel/upgrade
Hey guys,
I'm wanting to freshen up the look of my early build 98.5 dash so it looks like the later model years with the following modifications.
1-Swap out the the push pull headlight switch with the newer rotory type.
2-Relocate the airbag switch to where the the auxilary power outlet now resides and replace it's vaccany with the cubby hole.
3-Relocate the auxilary power outlet below the cigar lighter.
4-Replace the steering wheel with one that has radio controls.
Now for the questons.
1-Will my current wireing harnness accept the newer rotory switch without any modificartion?
2-Will the airbag wireing harnness reach it's new location?
3-Can I tapp the cigar lighter wireing for power and not over load the circuit?
4-The current stereo has a port on the back for wheel controls but no extra harnness can been seen in the dash. Is there a seperate harnness that's available from the dealer to make it work or does the new sterring wheel come with the harnness?
5-What model year did these changes take place?
Now for the hard questions, does any one happen to know any of the part numbers required for a dark grey interior. Your help and replies are greatly appreciated.

1. head lite sw plug.. it really doesn't matter if you get one from a wrecker just take the plug as well and splice it in if reqd, Chances are it does fit though.
2. Again I don't know but you could just extend the wires, one at a time.
3. Sure but it depends what you are going to plug in. The cig lighter works from the key and the power port all the time. (hot) So why not just extend the wires?
4. That's a little tougher. The steering column must have enough "clock spring contacts" to accommodate the radio controls. Easy way out might be the whole column and wheel from a wrecker.
5. Sorry I'm not sure.
As for the paint color just get a spray can of interior trim paint made up in the color you want.
Good luck. sorry I wasn't more help.
