dash cracked

went to start my truck this morning and I see a crack in the top of my dash from windshield to the glove box . What could have caused this to happen? Is the dash easy to remove it looks like I might be able to glue it or something if I relieve the pressure on it. What would be a good adhesive? If that doesnt work what years will fit it and ill look in a salvage yard.

Ahhhh the good ol' Florida sun. Dash (if you are taking about the dash itself) is a big job to pull. If you could repair it in the vehicle you would be better off I think.

looks like it will line up if I loosen the right side. Must be some cheap stuff my f150 was a 95 and it never cracked. Guess I need to find a good adhesive and try it. This thing looked brand new yesterday.

I've replaced three dashes for that problem all on the passenger side (sun baked AZ). Requires the whole dash assembly be removed and replaced, of course all the ones out of warranty opted for the dash cover .

if I push on the right side it lines up and you can barely see it I think that if I loosen the right side a little it will line up perfectly is there an adhesive that will hold it?

I would guess that an adhesive may hold for a little while, but sooner or later it's going to give out.

How have you cared for your dash? Did you Armor All (or similar product) it regularly? How often? I am basically trying to figure out how to prevent cracks. I apply a heavy coat of STP Protectant about once a month and use a front window visor in the parking lots to protect from the sun.

Cracked dash

My 98 had the same thing happen to it about 2 months ago. I was told by Dodge tech that it was a 5-6 hour job.
