I had a seeping rear axle seal and have read on here to check the vent. When I try to blow air into the hose it builds up and then shoots right back at me. If I take the tube off it is clear. Is this a one way vent out of curiosity? Just curious how everyone else clears theirs out. Thanks!!

It vents both ways, yours is definitely clear.
I check them the exact same way except with the fill plug removed to avoid an oil bath or blowing out a seal.

I feel like an idiot. Didn't even think about removing the fill plug so that air could escape. Thanks infidel I will double check when I get home.

Depending on how hard you blew, you better check the air pressure in your rear tires to make sure they aren't overinflated.

Mine has a one-way cap on the ends, front and rear. I think this is supposed to keep it from pulling anything in.

I think the cap functions more like a filter than a one way valve.
Think about it, otherwise a vacuum would form with cold fluid.
