D70 Disk converstion? on a 96?
Ok so i have found a kit from a company called Great Lakes Off Road. I have bought a few thing for my jeep project before and have been really happy. I was looking at there disk brake converstion that they have and see that they make one for a dodge Dana 70. Link>>> http://www.greatlakeoffroad.com/disc.html
The kit looks solid and if it can hold up to the beating they take off road why cant they take everyday use.
The only thing i am concerned with the the pressure to the back. I dont know if im going to have to change out my master cyclinder to get the proper pressure to the rear.
If anyone has any thoughts on this or has done this any info would be great!!
Thanks
-Mike

http://www.egrbrakes.com/index-main.htm heres another place that has the conversions, i didnt see a price on the greatlakes site, but this ones just under a grand also if you have a five speed you might have a dana 80. In 1997 5 speeds came stock with the 80 not sure about 1996 though.

I dont have a 5 spd. I have an auto.
The greatlakes kit use chevy rotor and calipers(i think) the the kit only comes with the brackets for the axle and the screws. You have to buy everything else. BUt it still totals less then 350$ for everything.
I just going to do the bigger wheel cylinders in the back instead of dealing with the whole converstion.
Just got to get my **** drums off now lol there on there good lol

Or if you don't have an air chisel, take the wheels off, thread on a lug nut part way down a stud on each wheel end. Start the truck (make sure its blocked up front, not in 4x4, and set on stands not a jack.) put the truck in gear, rev it up a little then slam on the brakes. Should knock the drum loose. If you don't put a nut or two on each wheel end you might have adrum go flying across the shop.
