Cruise Control on Standard 2002
I have a fleet vehicle that I purchased that is as basic as they come and wondering what the best way is to get cruise control in it as my back can't take holding the pedal for hours. I see in the 3rd gen trucks you only have to buy the buttons and install them is the the same for 2nd gen trucks or is there a kit out there that is available? I looked for a Rostra kit but didn't see it for the 2002. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Cut a stick to length and adjust speed by moving seat back and forth....
Just kidding, don't do that.
Welcome to the site. For factory cruise you will need a bunch of stock parts, including a steering wheel and clockspring assembly, not to mention an ECM/PCM to accommodate the electronics.
Might be easier and cheaper to find a rig with CC....

Well the stick idea was better than my brick idea. So did all 3rd Gens come with everything just option whether the buttons were installed or not? I did find out that the Rostra 1995-2002 Dodge Dakota Complete Rostra Cruise Control Kit - The Cruise Control Store
is the right kit. I'm not sure how difficult these are to install but it can't be that bad. It might take longer than the stick/brick idea but ....

I think the controls on the steering wheel is a set back, but since these trucks are electronic controlled throttle, there should be something available out there.
A lot of parts are interchangeable between models. Maybe someone knows more if the Rostra kit would work...
My truck was set up for everything, even has pigtails for Sport headlights hanging there, just no fuse block connections. The heated mirror switch controls and cab lights all have pigtails also. even though my truck didn't come with either.
An FSM may help you find out what wires may go where if you have any danglers...
