Hi Tate, good point! I have the axle at the large equipment mechanic and he said that it looks salvageable and that he sees this kind of stripping alot. He said he could take care of it with a thread file so again, we'll see how it turns out. I never even knew what a thread file was until you guys mentioned it. I had seen them over the years in people's tool boxes but never knew what they were for..........didn't know threads could be filed

My set came with my Snap-On thread chaser set....A little late to the party, but I had the same problem. Left side was fine, right side was really rusted, my 1/2" Thundergun barely touched it. Went to put it back on, got it most of the way and it stopped dead. Had to breaker bar it all the way back into place...3 weeks later, I grenaded the hub. I know they are known for going out w/ oversize tires, but I don't think it was a coincidence. So whatever ya do, make sure the threads are clean enough to get it nice and tight.
