cracked frame at steering gearbox!

soooooo i cracked the frame on the dodge at the steering box. it must have been the here chevy chevy on the back window because it cracked just like the chevys do. i so far have made a 2x2 angle iron bracket with a plate added on to it to fully cover the bottom side of the frame. i will add the same style plate to the top bolt so the gearbox is spaced off the frame equal amounts on top and bottom. Luckily the frame is nice and flat and boxed at the crack so mega fab wont be necessary. also i am going to stop drill the crack on both ends and weld it in then place the bracket on the frame weld that in, bolt the gearbox to it and hope for the best... what say you???

i might, my only issue with that is the fact that my sector shaft will now be 3/8" offset from normal...

A alignment will cure that. Haven't seen you on the boards much Lotero, hit the rollers or track lately?

I'm guessing the 3/8" is from the extra plate being welded on...

not much new going on with the truck lately, the death wobble has gotten so bad i am scared to drive it hard, or much at all. i am messing with the custom tuning and loving it but like i said its hard to test it when you cant really get into it.

actually the last time i was on it hard i left the bar with two girls who wanted a ride in the truck so we went out and raised hell around town and then off road. it was crazy. short story long we were tearing it up so much that the truck shut off on me completely in the middle of a donut session while at 1700+ on the pulse. popped the hood and it was puking coolant everywhere from teh puke bottle, the turbo and exhaust manifold were cherry red... the truck has been ****** at me ever since...
