Cost for a good paint job on a 98 2500?

If you've gotten your's painted, how much did it cost?

Or any ballpark figures?

I've found a nice truck but I hate the color. A paint job would just about make it perfect.

It will vary quite a bit depending on who does the work, how much prep work required and whether or not your gonna have any other work done (ie. rust spots, etc.) I would guess somewhere between $500- 1.5k. Pretty big ballpark there

I gave $250.00 just for the top of the cab, I guess the shinny black paint is expensive. It took a little prep work, it had some fadded streaks on it like the factory had not put enough paint on the first time. They Sanded those spots out and primed them and light sanded the whole top before painting.

It turned out great.

I had quote that included a lot of replaced body panels and the whole bed. Mine came in at around $5500, but there was a lot of work involved with it.

for that kinda money it will be a maaco paint job, and they can probably do nice work, but a good paint job with a clear coat that will last over 2 or yrs, and not fade should be around 3000 unless its one of your buddies. my dad got his truck painted at maaco for 1250, it might have a clear coat on it not sure. but its not factory job or collsion repair job. and it came out awesome. but he got it painted the original color too.

There are prices all over the place and more money doesn't always mean better. I suspect a good paint job with a color change is goint to hit $3,000 or more. Just the paint and supplies will eaislly hit $500 or more for good stuff.

It would cost more then 50 dollars worth of spray cans to paint with tremclad and it wouldn't look great.

I bet it will cost anywhere between 3-8 grand for a good job with base clear. Paint supplys are expensive. Theres a lot of truck to paint which means lots of paint, sandpaper, labour and all kinds of other expenses that add up.

The best thing to do is to go down to a few paint shops and get a quote.

It's a a lot of work and you have to do it just right or it will look like crap. You be better of doing a real paint job. Pictures can be deceiving. I have seen people do this locally and was unimpressed.
