I guess I'd rather be overly sure the fuel is heated. I did a test last winter where I put my bucket heater in the tank over night to see how it would effect warm up. Didn't make too much of a difference. I feel pretty confident that between the high temp t stat and coolant heater, I'll be good.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
I repeat! If it only gets to 160 degrees the theromstat is bad. I do not recomend aftermarket stats. Get Cummins or Dodge and be done with it, as long as you affect a seal.
Fou you really cold weather guys. I mentioned a viscious heater that is on other Chrysler product. NO RECOMENDATIONS _ JUST INFORMATION FOR YOUR THOUGH PROCESS. In 2005/6 Jeep Liberty diesels (2.8l) were equiped with a Cabin Heater as standard equipment in US market. Don't know about other places. It splices into heater inlet hose and provides the equilivant of a 1600 watt heater at 1200 RPM. It comes with a clutch (AC compressor type) and must be mounted as a belt driven accessory. The part # is supposed to be 55037539AA with a list price of $682.00 Clutch control wiring and mounting would have to be fabricated. As I said: FOR INFORMATION ONLY - NO RECOMENDATION MADE OR IMPLIED.

The 180 T-stat is a cummins part. Up here you don't need any fancy heaters. A block heater and fan removed/radiator blocked off is more than you'll ever need. We have a camp in the north country (tug hill plateau for anyone that knows it), and I've driven up on many 20 to 30 below nights with the above mentioned things done and NEVER had an issue with cabin heat or maintaining temps.

A 12V is a whole different beast though, so I can't really call my truck an apples to apples comparison of James' truck.

I think if it was a normal 12V, the no fan and radiator block of would be enough. I've got 4 things pulling heat out of the coolant before it gets back to the radiator or heater core (tank heat exchanger, heated pick up, vormax and the line hauler).

Put the thermostat on yesterday, seems that the truck heats up a bit quicker. Gets to just below 190 before slowly coming down to ~170 then slowly coming up to just above 190.

Just for future refrence the 190 * degree thermostat (190 thermostat) part number from napa is THM 532090.

I think with the heater/inverter combo, I should heat up super quick.
