Comparable Mileage

Re:Comparable Mileage
Not so sure the 12V's get better mpg by design. Remember the 24V's are running an extra 40 or so horses stock. Horses have never been free.
BTW..4x4 drags down mileage a bit too. Just something to add to your equation.

It just sucks in traffic trying to run a cell phone and drive and possible something else at the same time,[/quote]
YGBkM! A 19-yr old worried about how shifting will affect the phone conversation?!!!
All kidding aside, you'd probably be better off with the manual, depending on how you use it. I get about 19 city/23 hwy when not towing, and about 17 towing with a 5-spd. That was before my plate got shaved. I'll have to see how the mods affect the mileage.

Re:Comparable Mileage
Hahaha i knew id get something for that one! Yeah ive looked at a couple of the 5spds. Im trying to stay away from the HOs 6spd, for the reason is i understand that they dont respond as well to the mods. Cell phones not much of a problem. its got a speaker and voice dial. but remember 19..... what were you doing at 19 in your truck? Exaclty haha no need for a stick in the way!

Re:Comparable Mileage
Darn i wish i knew what i did to cause that every time i hit the enter key it submits grrr. but yeah from what i understand the 5 spds get 1-3 mpg better than your autos. which is awesome and i also understand that they are cheeper to build stronger which is yet peachy. But eventually its gonna be a dragger. As soon as i get done with college and i understand that for doing that i want the automatics. See this is the kind of stressfull things you face in College. you see all those commercials of the kids turning down a smoke or not doing drugs or all the billboard for Abstenace, psh maybe back in the freshman years of hs those worked. Those problems are way past ogne now all i have to worry about is the truck!

Stock '01 2500 Quad cab with 3.54 gears, auto, 4X2
I have driven the truck about 3500 mi. and checked milage at every fuel up. Worst was about 16.5...best 20.4 Truck averages right at 18.6 in mixed driving....I have yet to have the opportunity to take any kind of trip, so don't know about highway milage. Very happy with what I am getting so far.

Re:Comparable Mileage
On the freeway, and here the freeway is not always full power ahead but a considerable stop and go situation, I averaged 21 to 22, when I drove it daily. It would probably push it up a little on the open road. No complaints....

Re:Comparable Mileage
I've been at 17.5 pretty consistently for just under a year now with a 95 12v in mixed driving. I switched from a 94 gasser averaging around 10... and that was a 1/2 ton. Couldn't be happier.
