I think you might have gotten alittle carried away on the bottom bolt. I have had the same "clunk" since I installed replacement shocks, top and bottom mounts are tight (snug).
Anyone else have this proballem???

Re:Changed the front shocks and now have a frontend klunk
Have seen this many times myself. :
The lower shock mount will be the culprit almost 99% of the time. That bolt needs to be tight enough to tighten up against the sleeve in the shock. When I do the front shocks I usually use a 1/2 johnson bar and tighten it with everything I have so they dont come loose.
Good Luck

I had to buy a new bottom nut and bolt from DC to fix mine. No amount of tightening was gonna get it. Something about the "coating" on the bolts.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Are you sure that you have the correct model of shocks for your truck? If not, they could be bottoming out at one end of the stroke.
You can experiment and disconnect or remove one shock at a time (a pain) and see which one is causing the problem.
Let us know what resolved the problem.

Re:Changed the front shocks and now have a frontend klunk
My money goes to the idea that the bolt/bolts aren't really as tight as you think. Had the same thing happen to me when I changed the first pair of front shocks. There was a barely noticeable gap between the spacer and mount area on the lower arm. And I did just like you, cranked down on it with everything I had.... I thought. Took another crack at it after experiencing the same annoying noise; found I was able to get just a little more turn on the bolt. I remembered to do this on my second set of shocks and didn't have any problems.

Re:Changed the front shocks and now have a frontend klunk
I just installed Rancho 9000's on mine and have the same problem. I seem to remember reading a post some time ago about the rubber bushings on the Ranchos having a larger hole than stock shocks. The post went on to say that they used the old bushings from the old shocks and fixed the problem. I haven't had the time to troubleshoot mine yet.
