CB mount
I am buying an '01 6 speed truck and was wondering about a CB mount. I found one at Geno's Garage that mounts between the front seats. It says it will not fit larger CB radios. Is anyone running that mount? I have a Cobra 25 and want to know if it will fit this mount with a 6 speed.
Thanks!

Ya I just bought that mount from Geno's Garage and Installed it in my 1996 with a 5 speed. I really like it and all it does is provide the mounting platform for you to use. It has plenty of clearance for any gear and 4-low. You have to use the U-bracket that fits your CB and then drill holes in the mount from Geno's. I have a Cobra 25 LCD Classic and it works perfectly. I can get you some pictures tomorrow if you want to see a 25 mounted up.

A buddy helped me but I installed a striker CB in the cubby below the radio. I had to cut some plastic to help it fit but when it was done it looked factory fit. The radio sat so that the top with the ***** was facing upward. If you are not familiar with striker radios let me say this they are much larger than any cobra and are illegal to use with out a license. Your cobra would be easy to fit in that cubby.
Also my truck is a 02 6-speed cummins 4X4. and everything had clearance and did not hit.

At first I had mine mounted in front of the seat with a mount I made myself:
Then I figured out how useless the cubby hole in front of the shifter was and put it there:

I have a Geno's CB mount and I really like it. Radio controls are at the fingertips, and I don't have to cut holes in the dash to fit a radio. I currently have a Uniden 538W (medium size radio) residing on it. I have plans to remove it and install some ham radio gear on it.
I don't have a stick, but I really like the way it looks. Running the cables under the carpet (clean install) is another challenge though.

You don't have to buy a mount, just drill holes into overhead console & mount your cb there. Its a really convenient spot & leaves the area around your shifter open, especially if you ever need to put 3 people in the front seat.

Thats another Idea I have been toying with. I was going to make a whole new overhead console for mine and put the CB up there.

Here are some pictures I took of my CB mounted using the Geno's Garage mount. The sun was very bright so let me know if you want to know anything else about the mount.

Need12v, if you have an existing overhead console, you can drill into one of the solid plastic sections that separate the accessory pockets, & it'll hold your cb. It holds my Uniden pc68, which weighs about the same as your Cobra. Roof mounting advantages are that you can hear the cb speaker a lot better when its up high like that & the best reason is when you take your girl out & she inevitably gets turned by the Cummins, you got room in the front seat for some "messin around", hehe.

I just made a big "U" and mounted the CB like the Geno's mount. Only the CB is more or less straight up and down. Then I put an external speaker on the floor under the cupholders.
I'd get a pic for you, but last week a kid decided he wanted my CB more than me and tried to steal it, ripped out the wiring in the process. Recovered CB, got a new plug, just need time to re-install.
