Can't figure this out, need some assistance

vehicle: 1995 2500 HD 4x4, I have a small knock when I apply the brakes and then again when I proceed from a stop. It can be felt at the brake pedal and also the steering wheel, it feels like something is sliding forward and backward. I've completely changed out the 4 control arms with good aftermarket ones, replaced the calipers and pads, turned the drums, checkd the bearings, ball joints are good, tie rod ends good, added a good heimjoint to the stock track bar at the frame and it still has the knock. Anyone have this before ? Thanking you in advance,

I had an alignment done once and had a similar problem. It turned out to be the cam bolt on the control arm was not tight enough and the cam bolt was sliding forward and back in the slot.

shock bolts?? not tight enough, rear u-bolts loose?

Wasn't there an issue with slop in the steering column?

Had a similar issue when I got mine- rear axle u bolts were loose.
Had it happen on a Bronco years ago- turned out to be the yoke at the read diff (nut was loose)
Also have the steering clunk in mine but can't feel it in the pedal.

Wow thank you for the responses guys. OK,

cam bolts on control arm and shock bolts, all tightened tight, with a 3/4 inch breaker bar.

ball joints, worked the steering with the wheels on and off, worked them with a big pinch bar, no play. If they are bad will you see play ?

so......... I will now check the rear u bolts and yokes, never thought of that.

While you are under there put an eyeball on the U joints as well.

BTW- I would also check thew caliper bolts, make sure the calipers and pads are correctly installed, and check the front axle u-joints. I would expect one of them being bad to give you a constant knocking while driving but not likely something you would hear over the engine noise. (got that problem in my Jeep right now).
And, check your transmission mount. A bad mount can cause all kinds of things to go out of alignment when breaking and accelerating.

Unfortunately there are any number of things that could be related- probably going to be a few hours under the truck with some wrenches to ultimately solve it.

Tightened the rear u bolts didn't only two needed a little.
Yokes and u-joings all great, already replaced the seal off of the transfer case the slip joint was great, still is.

Tightened all the body cushion bolts and bed to frame bolts. None needed any. Still making noise.

While I was under the front end, I grabbed the tie rod and drag link bars and noticed they were making a little noise if you were to rotate them to their maximum front to back , back to front. I greased everything there with a heavier grease and now the noise is less pronounced when applying the brakes and launching. FOUND THE PROBLEM ! They are however not worn, their is no movement when turning the steering wheel. Maybe I'll wait awhile and replace them anyways. Thanks for all the ideas, maybe someone else will go through this too. I don't want to be the only one !
