Can you switch between the LF3894 and the LF3552?

Can you switch up oil filters between the LF 3894 and the LF 3552 regardless if you have a 12 valve or the 24 valve?

If I'm not mistaken, the LF3552 has a weaker canister and was designed for the 12 valve Cummins.
The LF3894 was designed for the 24 valve Cummins with a stronger canister to prevent the filters occasionally "popping" in a cold weather cold start.
Functionally, there the same.

Should be able to.
Hopefully someone else with Cummins factory mechanical experience will chime in to verify.

Yes you can.....I run 3894's on my 98.5 and 94.....the 3894 meets the requirements for 12v's, 24v's and common rail CTD's.....

Yes, the LF3894 will work on both the 12v and 24v. These are the filters that me and my brother use. He has a 12v. Like Shovelhead said, the LF3552 were made for the 12v and will not work on a 24v because they are weaker.

Fuel filters are a whole different ballgame.
They are year specific.
The one for my 99 wont fit a 2000 and up and vice versa.

I also run the LF3894. IT also has one other difference over the original style filter: The LF3894 has the stratapore filter media, the other has micro-glass.
You can also run the FS19519 fuel filter. I run em both.

Also, the Stratopore (LF3894) is synthetic filter media and filters better than the cellulose or microglass filters.
