A/C Recharge Question.

I tried to put a can of R-134A in my 2002 dodge. I used the low side port located on the passenger side next to the air filter. The system would only take a half a can?? The pressure on the system cycles between 25 and 45 psi. The compressor cuts on and off every four seconds or so. I tried keeping the RPM’s at 1500 with the recharge kit connected to the truck. I am not sure if I am using the correct low side port. Is there another low side port?

whats wrong with the a/c? whats the ambient temp? whats your temp from air vents? really would help to know high side psi.

I don't have a set of gauges for the high side. The a/c over time just quit cooling. I added 1/2 a can R-134A. Now the a/c blows cold again. I am wondering why I could only put 1/2 of a can in the system.

did you invert the can? try warming it up by putting it in hot water before attaching the hose and trying to fill it.

keep the can warm and use lipuid its faster just keep the low side at 50psi and lower while filling and if you need to, jump the low pressure switch but kinda hard to watch without high side

It's also hard to hear any flow from the can with the rattle of the Cummins . It's hard to heat the can while it's hooked up too..

can you hear flow from a can? you think your 5.9 is noisey, try a Steiger at 1500. holding the can in front of the fan works ok.
