Blend door or plugged evap. Search my name and dash, I gave a pretty quick run down a month or so back about how to get the dash out.

You have two options to getting the vent box out. Unbolt, swing dash up and drop it out or my personal favorite is pull the entire dash off and set it on the seats so that you have the whole firewall open and easily accessible.

I took the dash out and got the evap core out.
The evap core was plugged. I needed to replace heat exchanger anyways since it was leaking.

actually,I now this might be a little late, but there are 3 little screws that hold your blower motor and fan housing in place ,if u drop same u can access the evap for cleaning and inspection. if you have to remove the evap ,were talking the whole dash

Incoming air that goes to the evap (whether it fresh air or recirculated air) is not filtered when it passes through the evap. Now when your A/C is running the evaporator will condense any water vapor in the air, which collects on the evap tubes, and normally drains off. This means the evap lines are usually moist when the A/C is running. Now, combine a moist surface and unfiltered air, and you have a dirt magnet. Then what happens is that when the A/C is shut off the lines dry off, but the dirt/dust is left behind, and starts building up as the A/C is used and turned off. It eventually clogs as you had found out.

Hope this explains it.
