Brake prices for 99 2500??
Apparently my front brakes are shot on my 99 2500. One rotor is too. I took it to the Dodge dealer for an oil change and a leaking rear pinion seal and asked them to check the brakes while it was in there.
Their estimate - $420; for pads and the one rotor. This included $268 for parts and $150 for labor.
Called another mechanic shop here in town; his estimate was $386 for the same thing.
Took the truck to a local tire shop and had them inspect it and give me a written estimate. He also checked the rear brakes. This estimate had pads for the front, the front rotor, rear shoes & pads, resurfacing rear drums and the other front rotor as well as labor and shop supplies. Total $584.
Ive had people tell me its so easy to do it yourself, but im not mechanical at all, and would rather pay somebody to fix it for me right.
For a truck with 147,000 miles on it would the rear brakes be worn enough to justify replacing??

One of my rear shoes on the 99 was cracked at 120k.
I can't help you on prices. I do all my own work, that way I KNOW it is done right.
FWIW- I would NEVER replace something one just one side with my brakes. I always do them in pairs.
And while they are in there have them install the larger wheel cylinders.
