Re:Body lift???

As one final note addressing the gap between the body and frame, Performance Accessories (the body lift co.) also makes "gap guards" that extend the inner fenderwell to cover the gap. I bought them but have not yet had a chance to put them on, and will post photo's when I do. :P

Re:Body lift???

Yep, lost the pilot bearing on the clutch so had to tear it down. Works good, had to make an adaptor for the rear mount. It is an improvement pulling, much easier on the engine. Now if I can ever learn to smoothly shift into forth on an upshift. I am going to write my opinions in a thread when I get a chance, there are great differences from the five to the six.

As far as electric fans being better, They do not flow more than the stock fan, But niether Rob nor I have had any probelems with overheating, and he tows more than I do and has fans half the size, so I cant say for sure whether or not that would be an issue. You could also simply cut off the bottom of the shroud so it doesn't contact the fan when you lift it, that would probably be the cheapest way to go wthout affecting anything else.

I got mine and my gap guards from Macromotive
www.macromotive.com/
Had to call them to place order though because specific model #'s werent listed and I wanted it right the first time. You can get a shifter extension for your 5-spd here too

Re:Body lift???

This is and will always be one of the most controversial topics with lift kits. I have installed many suspension lifts and body lifts and *PERSONALLY* I would go with a suspension lift. But then I actually use my truck offroad and get it in to some pretty hairy situations where I need the stability, strength and flex of the suspension lift.

As for the body lifts, I HAVE SEEN a truck slam on his brakes and the cab bolts broke in half sliding the cab half way off the frame and trashing the doghouse. I HAVE ALSO SEEN trucks in offroad situations where there was too much stress put on the bolts and they broke.

Having said this, I know a LOT of guys running PA body lifts on Rams that have had no problems at all and wheel theirs in the same way that I wheel mine. The PA body lift is much more reliable than in past years. All of the incidents I've described were on older trucks so....FWIW

[quote author=Evildiesel link=board=5;threadid=13008;start=15#124105 date=1049460432]
As one final note addressing the gap between the body and frame, Performance Accessories (the body lift co.) also makes "gap guards" that extend the inner fenderwell to cover the gap. These things are crap! The back ones were close enough that we could make them look ok but the fronts were not even close to fitting. Plus, with the newer Rams you don't even need them because of the plastic wheel wells.

Haulin-
For your truck I think you would be ok with the body lift. Just my opinion.
