BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO Size: LT295/75R16
I am considering a set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO Size: LT295/75R16 tire on my 2002 2500 SWB. I currently have the Walmart Liberator AT 285/75R16's on the truck but they are about worn out with about 46,000 miles. They have been very good tire for the most part but I go off road a lot and they perform poorly in mud and are prone to being cut by sharp rocks. Have had two flat tires due to tire cuts through the tread.
I would appreciate any comment or feedback from anyone who has this tire mounted on their truck especially with respect on how they perform off road in mud and any problems such as balance or wear. My understanding is that this is the largest size tire that will fit on this truck and not rub the lower control arm or fender wells. Thanks!

I have ran this tire for about 40k miles. the tires wear nice if you keep them rotated. I still have a little tread left and will make it to winter before I put my new ones on. As far as off road I have never done much four wheeling with them but when I have has to go into wet fields I had no problems at all.

How is the road noise level with these tires?

I hunt alot = Mtn roads in fall winter and spring. We get a good bit of MUD here is WA State and the A/T is decent but it by no means excells in MUD. They are ok at best in the MUD. As far as road and light offroad they are great. I run them in 33's on my little Toyota mini truck I drive back and forwards to work. When I take the Toy out hunting I avoid MUD if at all possible. I run BFG M/T's on my diesel. I bought the A/t's for the mini truck for driving to work. As far as mileage/wear I get about 40-45K per set on the mini truck but it is like half the weight of my diesel. You can hear them on the road but I doubt if you will hear them much on your diesel. I don't know how much I helped you or not just my opinion.

BFG AT's look great on a truck and are tough for rocks, thorns, and logs. You can't hear them at all even on a stock truck. But they do not clear mud out of the lugs at all! They just turn into the same slick tire from packed mud as a wal mart tire. Maybe its just the GA red clay but now I either run a highway tire for longevity, or a full mud tread for offroad.

I have 285's and I like them. I find that they are a good mix for pavement and offroad. I do not go in mud unless I have to, but no matter what tire I have had, all have clogged up. I have been stuck in the mud with these tires, but so did the front loader that was trying to pull me out, so I don't feel too bad. For mud, momentum is key, lose it and bye-bye. A great mud tire, or the more aggresive the tread, generally will have bad pavement or wear manners. I do go on sharp rocks and dirt and the BFG's work very will, very tough sidewall. On pavement they are quiet. Wear has been more than I expected, but then again the truck is heavy. A LSD rear also contributes to the wear problems. I would buy them again.

I've got the 295 All terrain on my 01. They are wearing great, I've put 16k miles on it, and they still look new. I don't know if they were brand new when I bought the truck though. They are quiet, and very good in the snow.
I have them mounted on the stock aluminum wheels, they fit fine, look good and don't rub.

BFG all terrains don't work well in the mud. The BFG mud terrains about as good as possible in the mud short of buying Super Swampers. I found you can get about 40,000 miles out of the MT's if you keep them rotated at every oil change. I am running Goodyear MTR's in 285/75 on my truck now. The MTR's aren't as good as mud tire as the BFG M/T's but are a lot better than an A/T tire, the MTR's also work well in snow. The MTR's wear better though and have a much stronger carcass than the BFG's. It is very hard to put a cut in the sidewall of the Goodyears. I got 50,000 out of my last set of MTR's and I can't hear them at 75 mph over the motor.
