I've heard of guys using fishing line to do this. I've never had any experience w/ it though. I think it might still leave some residue, but a little bit of brake parts cleaner, and that will be gone. Geez, I love brakes parts cleaner, I just wish the can wouldn't run out so fast.

removing mouldings/ emblems

My one side moulding came part way off several years ago has been dangling since. Yesterday the front ram emblem came off while I washed it. (so much for ram tough)
WD-40 works well to remove glue residue etc. Spray on let it soak and rub comes off great.

After reading an earlier post, I decided to remove mine. I started with the last "0" of the 2500 on my door. I used a heat gun, followed by a plastic bondo spreader and a large selection of chemicals, including brake cleaner. I soaked and reheated even with very poor results. The end result was I had done some fairly substantial damage to the finish...scrapes and ripples in the paint. Bummed me out, and I ended up glueing the "0" back on. Be careful. If I want them removed, I will take the job to a pro.

I've never understood that either.

I'd only remove mine to replace them with bigger, better and stronger ones.

To each his own I guess.

I saw a 2nd gen 4x4 the other day with no emblems. I couldn't tell if he had a diesel, was a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton or what. The truck looked neutered.

I wear the badges proud, if they come off on their own I'll put 3rd gen badges on.

If you make your truck loud and smokey enough you don't need no stinkin' badges
People will know what you are driving

My 99 didn't have any of the badges (sport edition) so it was fun seeing the look on people's face when I fired it up. My 01 has them and I like having them on there. Husband said he was going to remove them, then got "the look" and said nevermind.

I am removinig the trim and emblems on my 96 for a new paint job but they are going back on...maybe as the newer style decals.
To contribute to the thread, I used safety wire to cut the adhesive tape then solvet (enamel reducer) and a razor blade to remove the residue.

I personally think the badges look somewhat tacky.........I prefer them gone so you have a nice clean look. I don't really care whether they think its a gas or a diesel..............they find out real quick when they hear it about to run them over!!!

I was told by a body shop to use mineral spirits and a PLASTIC kitchen spatula. That's how I removed mine and it worked pretty good. The result was well worth it in my opinion.
