Backseat Space in 1998 Dodge Ram vs older 1994-97 models
I realize they started making the "suicide" doors on the Dodge Rams in 1998, but…as the doors are closed and front seats are upright, is their more room in the backseat or more floor space in the back on the 1998 club cabs (or whatever you call the ones with the rear bench seats) vs that of the 1994-1997 models? Just wondering if maybe they gave an extra one inch, 2, or 3 inches of space. My 14 year-old boy and his friends are growing taller by the minute and we are running out of leg room…just wondering if I should start shopping for the 1998 and I can't find info anywhere on backseat space. These trucks are hard to find where I live and so I would have to travel far just to measure one.
Thanks,
Jen

When I was shopping for 98's I was convinced the earlier ones, 12 Valves without the rear door, had a little more leg room even though it was harder to enter. I ended up buying that version.

I wouldnt subject anyone over the age of 12 to ride in the back seat. I've looked into cutting the frame & body to essentially make a 2nd gen mega cab but just don't have all the resources. It can be done but you might want to look into a used mega cab. Good luck
