Another low heat thread
2000 ram 2wd 3500
I've tried just about all the tricks and read every single "no heat thread" on this site.
I'm out of things to try other than replace the heater core with a new one.
Here are things I have tried doing to diagnose the problem:
Install brand new cummins thermostat
Took off water pump and inspect
flushed out heater core.....poured in CLR and let it set for 25 minutes, then flushed with water in both directions.
Checked blend door acutator.....works fine
Filled heater core at the hoses to get any air out
made sure radiator and overflow are full
Airflow seems good.....I can feel it blowing on my face just sitting in the seat.
Both hoses feel ok. Hose coming out of the head is fairly hot. The other hose is warm but not like the other side. Temp on guage reads about 180-185.
I'm out of ideas.

THat's the temp (180-185F) at the head of the engine, on top. Your heater core is at the far end of the system.
I would also try blocking the radiator with a piece of cardboard with a 4" hole cut out of the center to let a little air to the fan clutch.
When the t-stat is closed the coolant isn't being moved around by the water pump very much if at all.
The heater core is a small version of the radiator up front and cold outside air from the cowl will cool it pretty quickly if its not circulating hot coolant at a steady pace.
The bypass holes in some thermostats are about the size of a pencil lead, so very little exchange takes place when closed.
Maybe go 190F on the T-stat and block the radiator for a while and see what happens.

95black2016.....I went with the Showtime Fabrication inserts. They were 80 bucks and fit/look great.

Same here, with the rad blocked off. Even with the truck plugged in, low heat.
Truck takes 30-40 driving before I can take my gloves off.
Considering some type of alternative heater?
