air vent selector

I was out muddin the other night when i fell off into a creek dont ask how but it hurt. When i hit everything went everywhere.and now my air only blows out of the defrost vents the switch works because when you turn it to off it will cut the blower off but still lets the hot air flow out. my ? is is there a flap or something like that which makes the air move to each different vent when you select it and could this hard hit have broke the flap.

Look for a melted or damaged vacuum line in the engine compartment. This has happened on my 01' before and the culprit was a vacuum line running under the hood weatherstrip had come lose and melted on the exhaust manifold. It was easy to fix by making a clean cut on either side of the damage and repairing with an appropriately sized piece of rubber hose. Good luck

Yep, its the vaccum line. If there is no vaccum the vent doors default to defrost mode. Look for the line coming in the cab above the pedals and maybe to the right a little on the firewall.

Also make sure the **** itself isn't cracked where it slips over the post, feels like it's turning but just slips.

Last time one of mine split I super-glued it back together then slipped a short piece of copper tubing that fit tight over the outside of the part that splits. Been holding up now for several years.
