Air bags wont fit! Need Help?

A buddy of mine got the Ride Tites for his 98 12valve 3500! He got the part number to fit his generation truck and when we tried to put them on today they would not fit b/c of the overload springs! Is this normal and if soo what should he do? Please help! Thanks!

I have a 96 , 2500 with factory overloads worked with my air bags, Never had much of a problem installing them, pretty basic, i thought, even with the brakets for my 5th wheel hitch,, it all worked out .

Well the problem we were having is that once the airbags were installed above the overload springs there was no room for them to be inflated. They were compressed completely together! Is this normal?

Mine are not completely compressed, but they are pretty flat.

OutlawStorm:

What kind do you have and where did you purchase them from. I have the same set up as you and I'm thinking about getting them for my truck.

So they don't inflate, or you never tried?

If you have the air rides you don't need the overloads. Why not just take them off? Many I have seen on this site have. Ask this same question in the towing forum, maybe a better answer there?

Did you get the right model?

Ride Rite makes two kits for the 2500/3500!

One with overload springs .. which mounts the air bag under the frame and above solid axle.

One without overload springs .. which mounts above the factory leaf springs and upper bracket is drilled and bolted to the side of the frame.

I have the Ride Rite for overload springs on my 2500HD and I didn't have any issue installing it.
