After market radio
I'm trying to install a pioneer radio in a 2001, checked the wire 2 or 3 time and the radio will power up but no sound. I've tried 2 different radios one was from a friend that he had in a 2000 plugged it in and the same thing, no sound.

Does your truck have the Infinity system? If it does you're going to have to do a little re-wiring to make the new stereo work with the current speakers.

Not sure if it does or not it does have tape and cd with steering wheel controls, on top of the radio it showed what the plug configuration was and hooked it up like that and also found wiring charts on the web but none of them match the truck.

If you haven't bought one of the adapter harnesses then do yourself a big favor and get one. If you have already cut up your harness to put the stereo in its probably too late but its so worth it to not chop up the factory harness when a plug and play one is available for like $15 that its not even funny. If you've already chopped the plugs off the stock harness then my suggestion would be to solder them back into place and get the adapter harness. If you've got tweeters in the A-pillars then you've got the Infinity system.

Got it, FYI on the stock radio there is a wire labeled ANT if you have the Infinity system that wire has to be hooked up to the one labeled "remote turn on" on the new radio. And thanks for all the info.

I had two older Pathfinders that had amps for the rear speakers. If it did not have power they would not work at all. I am still learning about my new Dodge, but if it has one I would imagine that may be your problem. When I bought my 2500 some yay hoo decided to cut the factory harness and wire his stero in that way. Not only did he do that, but he used household wire bugs to put wires together. Lucky me huh?
But now it works like a charm.

Same deal for me. I'm putting a pioneer in my truck. Got the adapter plugs and still no sound. The stereo shop said there is a green wire that comes into the truck side. This needs to be hooked with the red power wire to power up the infinity amp. Going to try it on my lunch hour, let you know what happens.
