My brother was driving my truck in the back yard when he had to stop quick. He slammed on the brakes and it made a loud screeching sound. After that my abs and brake light came on and my brakes are real squishy. Can the abs be reset? Is it an abs problem? Can I look up some kind of code?

I forgot to add I have a 99 2500. Anyone know what might be wrong?

My uncles 97 just had a similiar thing happen this morning. Backing down a hill with the horse trailer, he had to get into the brakes, and now the ABS/ brake lights are on, and a very squishy pedal. We pulled the battery cables to see if it will reset, I hope someone posts with some helpful info. Thanks in advance

First of all, what year is your truck? That would be helpful for diagnostics.

Found the problem. Small leak on the rear brake line. I guess that wasn't hard to figure out. After slamming on the brakes that should have been my first thought.
