99 2500 brake upgrade...again!
I've searched this for the last hour and still haven't found quite what I'm looking for. I have a 99 2500 2WD Quad (8800 GVW) and would like to upgrade the brakes. I'm clear on adding the Chevy 1-ton cylinders to the rear, but am still stumped on what to do with the front end. Is there an improvement (larger swept area) to be had by going to 3500 rotors? If so, is it a bolt on? That said, who carries a good quality rotor? I'm not looking for fancy, Ricky Racer stuff, just good quality parts.

I guess it depends alot on what GVW truck you have.
If you have the 8,800 GVW you probably have the biggest rotors available.
I have used the EGR pads and they work fantastic!
I have used the EGR rotors too with the same results.
The braking power is incredible!
If the EGR brakes would out last the lifetime junk I would probably still be running the EGR stuff.
If I was towing alot of weight I would run the EGR stuff.
Since I don't tow heavy I get the most expensive Lifetime pads from AutoZone. Carbon Metalic something or other.
I get my Rebuilt loaded Calipers and slotted rotors from One-Stop Undercar.
Drop me an e-mail if you need more advise or tips.
Oh yeah Keep those caliper pins well lubbed or they will stick and ruin your brakes.
I used to lube mine every 1,500 miles to prevent mine from getting gummed up.
I'm sure glad I found a solution!

Yes, the truck has a 8800 GVW (I've edited the post). Thanks for all the info, it sounds like you've played this game before! I'm not doing much heavy towing compared to others in this group, so I need to take that into account. I do have slightly warped rotors that need attention in the near future. Are the EGR rotors really that much better? Any other options?

I'm sure there are different quailty rotors.
EGR's are good.
I got my last set from "onestop undercar.com"
Be care full if using the cross drilled rotors. They will eventually start cracking at the holes.
I have run mine cracked for quite awhile...
My next set will be the slotted rotors. No holes..

The 100.00 rotors have been working just fine for me.
I feel if you maintain your brakes properly. They will perform as intended.
