95 3500 dually

I will be getting my first dodge diesel in a couple of days , it's a 1995 3500 dually auto.. Mileage is 109,000. Power windows, locks, mirrors. It has a few minor spots the paint needs repair but no body damage. I got the truck for $5500.00. All I know is they say the fuel had been turned up, not exactly sure how they did this. Does this sound like an okay price for this truck, I thought it was a pretty good deal. I also know the oil has been changed regularly and it has synthetic oil in it.

depending on how much they turned it up, it should be okay. i have seen the fuel turned up all the way on a 95 dodge and it just slipped the tranny all the time so they turned it back down to reduce wear on the tranny. to turn up the 94-97 dodges, you take a fuel plate out to turn it all the way u or you can get a ugraded fuel late for it or just adjust the stock one for more fuel. i have done it and seen it done to many dodges. the auto's always suffer worsefrom turning the fuel up than the standards. but if you are an easy going type and don't rokmp on it or get the tranny hot when towing, you should be fine. you should get a tranny tem guage installed andif its getting too hot, ut a bigger cooler in it. heat kills auto's

If you want to be bullet proof, turn it back just a little. That engine has no electronics and is a true diesel. My sons truck, that was mine, has 240k on it without any problems in the engine. Changed the fuel pump and one sensor since 118k. Its a 2500 and it is consistant at 20mpg. Sometimes more.

Its easy to readjust the pump.

thats an excellent price jgn!! even if its not 4x4 (which im assuming b/c u didnt mention it) did the guy sell it to u as is?? if yeah then watch ur tranny especially in a slightly hopped up dually. Assuming the tranny is good then u got great mileage and a great price. turning up the fuel prolly means he pushed the stock plate forward fully ...u'll learn what that means by the end of the holidays if u stick to this site id ask him if he recently rebuilt the tranny or added a shift kit or modded the torque converter at any point

stock plate fully forward would mean an extra 100 foot pounds of torque (roughly) ur tranny can handle that no prob if ur not a pig driving

I got my truck Tuesday afternoon. What is the KDP I see everyone talking about, I'm not sure what it is. I have a friend that does all of our mechanic work. He works at the local Dodge dealership and does jobs at night at home and will probably be doing any work to it if need be. The truck runs great. From what I've seen so far looks like I'll be able to get a lot of good advice from the members here. Thanks to all.

The KDP is an alignment pin used to align the timing cover. They have a tendency to fall out and go between the cam gear and the cover. The only problem is the pin is about 3/8" in diameter and the space it goes into is about 1/2 the size of the pin. That is where it gets real expensive. Go to the search button and type in "KDP". Get yourself something to drink and eat 'cause you will have more reading than you could imagine!!
