9007 headlight bulbs instead of 9004's?
Anybody try replacing the 9004 bulbs with 9007's?.......low beam is 55 watt on the 9007's instead of 45 watt on the 9004's.....looks like the 9007's would be a direct fit....I was just curious if they made much of a difference.

Sorry, also the base is keyed differently, I believe. 9004, the pins are A-B-C with A being the ground. 9007 B is the ground (or the other way around, I can't remember). They definitely aren't the same.

Hmm....I obviously wasn't looking close enough! ......Thanks for the heads up before I wasted some money! ....I'm looking for better headlights than the stock junk......I really want the Sport headlights but they are WAY too exspensive and I can't find any in the wrecking yards around here...

Look on e-bay, you can get quad headlamp sets for about $169.00 both sides. Just wire in the high beam side using relays off of the switch. Did it to mine, worked great although if yours is a 98.5 you may have to cut some metal in behind the lights.

I "liked" it way more than stock, but last week my wife wrote the truck off so when I get another one, I'm going to have to do it all over again...

It is like night and day (pun intended ) difference. I find that I hardly even turn my factory driving lights on any more. I did however build my own relay pack so that all 4 low beam filaments light on dim, and all 8 filaments light on bright. Basically the same thing as a Bright Box. I have had them wired this way for about 3 months and haven't had any discoloration or deforming of the lens or reflector. So far I am very happy with the change. I just wish Dodge would have done this from the factory on all trucks.

The 9007s will fit in place of the 9004s,just take the whole unit out and file another little slot as the 9007s have a little bit different tabs were they go into the light.they then will go in,just push in and turn to lock as before. Then look at the wires on the plug, there are 3,one is ground, one is hi,one is lo,if i remember right you swap the hi and lo wires.I been running these for 4 yrs and the lites are very close to sport lites. I also went under the steering column and conected the hi and lo wires together which makes the lo beams on all the time when the lite switch is on,just the hi is switched on and off for dimming.

I have seen guys with the 9007 bulbs in, but the filiment location is all off. The beam pattern is altered by having the filiments in the wrong location.. I dunno, but those lites don't look any brighter to me..
I run the GE Nighthawk bulbs and they are fine. I have aftermarket fogs to fill in the road at nite. Looking at LightForce driving lites.
