47-53 mph

So my "new to me" 1997 CC, 4 x 4, 5 speed has a good shake/shimmy between 47 and 53 mph. Truck shakes from left to right... Any slower or faster and the shake is not noticeable. But I do get the same shake when braking. I drove the truck 100 miles from where I purchased it.

I took my truck to my local Big O and had them put the truck on the alignment rack. Truck was with in specs. But truck pulled to the right before the alignment check. And still pulls to the left....

So I am thinking I have a bad track bar and or ball joints. The shake/shimmy maybe is the beginning of the "death wobble"??

So ball joints and track bar are on my list to check. Will the steering dampener cause these issues if it is worn? Anything else to check?

222,000 miles on the truck. Completely stock.

i would check the steering gear box also. have someone turn your wheel left to right a couple times while you watch to see if there is any slop in your steering components

Could be tires, try rotating them.

My 99 did the same thing. Track bar and drag link later problem solved. Rotors may need turned too. Best thing to do is as suggested turn wheel and see what is loose.
