4" lift for a 98
hello, well i am usually in the first gen section but now the girlfriend just got her hands on a 1998 ext cab long box 4x4 cummins for $500 running and all. it was an ex highways truck anywayy we are going to go through it but she would like to go with a 4" suspension lift because she still wants to tow her horse trailer i would guess that skyjacker is the best for this year truck to? what are some prices you guys have spent so i know if im gonna be getting ripped off or not. she is also thinking of going with 6" chrome stacks whats a good brand for that also? i just made my own for my 93 but she would like chrome. thanks

skyjacker makes pretty good kits... lots of stuff on ebay from what i have found. and pretty decent prices. the kits arent to expensive. but IMO you need a nice set of rims and tires to make the truck look right, and thats what hurts the wallet. same thing for the stacks too. or just search on google, there are tons of shops that sell full stack kits with lots of different styles. come spring time i will be doing the same to my 97 except i will be running 5" chromies

front coils: go with a good set of leveling coils (2") like kore - then do a 2" spacer.
front swaybar: 2" drop blocks and extended end-links (2")
track-bar: adjustable 3rd gen conversion
shocks: bilstein 5100's (front/rear)
steering linkages: not sure - i'm sure there is a solution
rear springs: spacers or add-leaf's, or new leaf's all together
there are many many many combination's of what i listed above - do some searching on each and you will be able to piece together a better system (and probably for less $$$) than a whole kit would be. . .

this is where i got my leveling coils from - they are very knowledgable with great customer service. if you peruse their website you will see that they can make any kind or leaf spring imaginable. . .

I'd probably take the above advice....don't get me wrong, SJ has a good system. Definately Bilstein shocks and probably a diff track bar drop brkt as my SJ one had to be welded back. A full set of rear springs would be a plus vs blocks.

Ask for Tyler he's the one who makes the custom springs. I actually am going to see Him tomorrow for a wheel alignment and a free retorque of the spring hardware.
