3m adhesive tape removal

I recently lost one of my bed rail caps so to install 2 new ones i need to remove that adhesive tape- i have heard of eraser wheels but the ones i find on the web require a special type of power tool to use them
what have you guys used?

thank you,
Patrick

lilbro beat me to it. Dang it!!!! You can also try diesel or gasoline, just don't let it set to long. Test what ever you use on the underside of your bed rail to see if it will affect the paint.

tar and adhesive remover will take it off with out hurting the paint, just soak a rag in it and let it sit on the tape for a minute or two then use a plastic razor blade to remove and wipe of residual adhesive.

I use "Low Order Mineral Spirits" Can be purchased in a quart metal cylinder at your local Lowes. Will not harm paint or plastic.

good Luck,

3m makes an eraser wheel with an arbor that works in a drill. Most places that sell automotive paints will carry them

I know this sounds strange, but try cleaning it off with vegetable oil. I've used it on some stubborn adhesive before and it worked better than anything else I had tried. Admittedly, I've never used it on 3M.

I've had good luck using fishing line to get the major stuff off and denatured alchohol to clean up.

Eraser wheel after you soften everything up with WD-40. Comes off like magic.
