2nd gen steering?

Personally... I think the steering difference boils down to this.
2nd gens - reciprocating ball (junk)
3rd gens - rack-n-pinion
Converting a 2nd gen to have rack-n-pinion will help the most. As it sounds like from the above, guys have spent lots of money on replacing / upgrading every steering related part and still don't have the tight steering we hope for (me included). I have heard of some guys converting to rack-n-pinion. But I don't think it's cheap. I've heard estimates in the $2000 range.

would be next to impossible to fab up rack and pinion on a solid axel truck! if the truck is IFS then yes rack and pinion is possible
Maybe the 1500's in 3rd gens have a rack and pinion, for sure 2500 3500 dont

thanks for clarifying that, I was wondering how one would stick a rack and pinion on solid axle trucks
