285's look so much better than the stock size,IMHO.
No problems with them fitting rims or rubbing.

I got a set of 285/75/16's General Grabber A/T2's for 117 each shipped from treaddepot.com I also bought set of 2001.5 alloys that should be here tomorrow. Now just have to get the rear drums machined and change the speedo gear and I'm set. Pete

I've been running 255/85s (33 1/2" tall) for quite a few years - on my 2nd set. They're load range D and fill the wheel wells nicely. If you load the truck or tow heavy, I'd stick with an E rated tire. These tend flex a bit more than the stock size that came on the truck. I didn't notice any difference in mileage. Also, they fit the stock rim on a non-lifted truck even with running boards.

I just put some 285/70/17 Cooper Discover ATRs with 3rd gen rims from the 03 I got rid of on mine, and was wondering about the speedometer. How do you correct it to adjust for the taller tires. It has 235/xx/16s on it (just got it yesterday)

Thanks and sorry to hijack the thread

Will the 285s fit in the spare tire location?

I agree with Forrest, I had 315's on my 04 and now run 285's.
The truck just feels better overall with the 285's.
