A 285/75/16 wouldn't rub at all.
[/quote]
I am supprised a 305/70 combo would rub. Isn't that tire barely 33" tall? Should be a shorter fatter tire right? hmmm... It is weird how some trucks can tuck bigger tires than others of same type...

Careful. After 2000, the rims for a 3500 have more offset. 2000+ will run 255-85/16s with no problem. You may be able to go a little wider and taller. 1999- may have some rubbing problems on the rear, depending on brand-name variation.
Will the 255/85/16's look funny being that skinny? Anybody have a picture of 295/75/16's with Skyjacker 2-1/2" front springs? Will the 295's stick outside the fenders too much. If they did I would have to get fender flares. I really would prefer not to go with flares. ???
Here's Gear Poet's truck. The 255-85/16 tires aren't skinny at all. They look OK, even with the lift.

The dealer can reflash for somewhat bigger tires, 275's sticks in my head.
Above is for the computerized 24 valvers.

There are also some aftermarket computer gizmos you can put on for bigger tires.
For the life of me I can't remember names or websites.

You might try a local speed shop, they might have a box for it.

Or, do what I'm going to do, use my GPS and ignore the speedometer.
Getting 35's sometime in the next month or so.
