I know this has been talked about 1001 times on here and I could go searching but what is the best aftermarket track bar to buy? I know there are bars that you can retrofit and so on but I am looking for a direct replacement bar that will last longer that the last 2 I have had. I got 6000 miles each out of the last 2 and have the factory origional back on for the time being. That one is 1000 times better than the aftermarket ones I had. I hope to get a couple months out of this one till I get xmas paid for. Any hepl would be great.

I just bought Don Thuren's 3rd gen track bar and a conversion bracket for mine. It should be here next week or the week after. Hopefully it does the trick!

the moog for your year takes no conversion, it is a straight bolt on

Don has a 2nd gen track bar that doesn't need a bracket, but I wasn't sure it would fit since my truck is stock height. Don recommended the 3rd gen so there wouldn't be a problem. The 3rd gen is a better design too. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with Thuren's stuff, but I've heard more than one say Moog's fail.

Thanks guys, I just want to fix her up a bit better than the Dodge guys did. I don't know if it would be much since for me to up grade because I only drive 6000-10000 miles a year. Is it hard to convert to 3rd gen setup.? Can it be done easily lying on you back in the driveway? I really need a place to work on this truck.

the 3rd gen conversion is quite easy to install by yourself with basic mechanics hand tools.

i also have tried frank's track bar and it worked great. i know of others using it with success too. the only reason i removed it is because i needed an adjustable one, other wise it would have stayed on.

At 6-10,000 a yr, I might be tempted to do the Moog! Cheapest way to go.
But if you are keeping the truck a long time, and want to do it right the first time.... get Thurens.
I did the 3rd gen (was only option in 03).... but I believe the Thuren is better and cheaper.
His stuff is great quality and very Heavy Duty.

Great info, I will look into a few options before I make a purchase. I could not think that the bar could fail that fast. Crazy..

Actually the cheapest way is Lukes Link around $60. I did this a few years ago and it is still holding up.

The bracket from dss bolts in without modification for the 3rd gen track bar
I did it with a friend and was done in 3 hours it was 250 for the trackbar and 150 for the bracket well worth the money. And i am no mechanic buy any means. Hardest part is getting the ball joint off.
