anyone care to do a full write up on the install for the kool-vue mirrors (power/heated/towing style).
are the mounting brackets needed for every truck which did not have the tow mirror option from the factory?
also, is the grinding of the joystick, lengthening of studs etc. required for all trucks which did not have the factory tow mirrors option?
best place for canadians to get these??

You can buy these for about 200-220 shipped to you door. I just installed mine and its true. Power heated mirrors for our second gen trucks. The stud barely make through, but with 2 people its not a problem. As far as grinding the factory switch, you dont have to. Yes it does stick out a little but I can live with that. You should also get yourself the yellow clips that hold the door panel off. Thay are a bit pricey but if break or ruin them the door panel will rattle. I did see the correct part number earlier in this thread ( kool-vue). When you search for the mirror you must look under the 2001 dodge ram 1500. I'm pretty sure thats why nobody could find them. As far as fit. I previosly had the manual tow mirrors. the fit is very close to factory. I hope this post will help in making your decision.

Thanks Beatle. I plan on ordering the Kool-Vues right after Christmas so hopefully I'll have em sooner or later. Will I need anything else other than the support plates for the install? My truck has the little 6x9s on it now but they have heat and power...
