Is this 1997 A Good Deal???

1997 SLT Extended Cab 4X4, Pwr everything, leather and new tires.
New Automatic transmission last year
Leer Camper Top with Rhino'd bed
290,000 miles (this concerns me)

Owner is a 73 year old man who puchased truck new and is asking $6,900 and claims he's kept up the maintenance.

I have a 93 D250 with 257,000 and it's still going strong.

So what should I look for tomorrow when I go test drive and would this be a good deal if everything checks out OK. Thanks!

By the way, he claims 25 MPG but that seems high to me.

My 93 D250 Club cab with a manual gets 24 MPG.

I think you found a good truck. If the maintnance has been kept up, the motor will definatley last. And mileage wise, I've seen some 12 valves get up there in the mid 20's. Mine, with my father slowpoke father, will net 23 mpg consistent. If he has records, it's all the better.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. For here at least. Truck prices can ary a lot depending on your area.

I would buy it if it looks clean and unbeaten. Look under the hood for leaks and the obvious stuff.

Mine has 322,000 and it has been modded and hotodded for years, its all in the maintenance.

Thanks guys, I spoke with a Marine this morning coming through the Navy base and he said to see how it drives on the highway and he mentioned a death wobble. He owns a 96 and his truck looks awesome.

Thanks for the compliment unclet, hope the truck is solid when you get there to look at it. Let me know if you do end up buying it, I would love to take a look and can lend a hand with some power adders for that beast.

Sounds extremely square for that truck, especially around here.

If you decide not to get it, how about posting the contact info for members here.

For 6900 I would just about buy it for a spare..... Same truck around here, except 5 speed and 212K has an asking price of 10,900.
