1996 fuel sending unit

I have read the thread regarding the 02 sending unit. Is it the same as the 96 unit. Just purchased the truck & filling it up the gauge went 1/2 to empty to the low fuel light coming on. It is not accurate. I have the pump/sending unit/float out of a 94 van gasser. Is it the same? Or what do I need to replace. Thanks

the correct sending unit number is: 5013467. that is a Chrysler part number. it is just the float/sending unit, not the entire assembly that drops into the tank.
when you replace that, replace the screen on the bottom of the assembly. it is PN: 52004938

that there is what you want. I just put that one in a '97 recently. it is a dealer only part. at least around here anyways. its not that expensive anyhow.
